Pack your bags and let's go on an adventure! Bodrum is a beautiful coastal city located in southwestern Turkey where Can spent a bazillion summers growing up and as a partial adult too. Known for its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and rich history, Bodrum is a perfect destination for our special celebration.
We will be wed in the bay of Göltürkbükü, which is on the Northern side of the peninsula. Though still very modern, things are much less touristy, and much more authentic up there. Read further for information about the wedding venue and lodging.
Flamm is a hotel and event space located in Göltürkbükü, and is where we will be hosting the wedding. In addition to their cush rooms, they provide an excellent dining experience morning and night, and have a beautiful beach and pier to soak the sun and sea at.
We recommend arriving at least one day before the event to settle in and adjust to the time difference.
Our wedding ceremony will be held on the evening of the 13th of September, and we have some activities planned between September 10th - 15th.
There is a room block you can take advantage of, that has a 30% discounted rate from their listed pricing. Their requirement is to stay 2 nights (and discount applies here only to): 09/12 and 09/13, with checkout on the 14th. If you would like to stay longer, we of course welcome you to book a longer stay! To book, you will have to email them, or contact them through Whatsapp via the information on their website.
Check out FlammIf you are planning on staying elsewhere, we recommend checking out Hotels in the following areas: Yalıkavak [map], Gündoğan [map], Göltürkbükü [map].
We do suggest looking at these alternative hotels if Flamm is full by the time you book:
☞ Orkide Otel [map]
☞ Beste Otel [map]
☞ Matiz Otel [map]
☞ Genç Otel [map]
We recommend arriving at least one day before the event to settle in and adjust to the time difference.
Our wedding ceremony will be held on the evening of the 13th of September, with things starting around 5PM. We will have some activities planned between September 10th - 15th, and would love to spend some time with you outside of the wedding itself, so please let us know your arrival/departure dates when you have them!
If you plan on staying at Flamm for only 2 nights and staying elsewhere before/afterwards, or you simply will not be staying at Flamm at all, keep us posted!
The dress code is "Mediterranean Elegance," or beach formal. Think light, breathable fabrics in dressy styles.
☞ Ladies: Summer dresses, light fabrics, wedges or fancy sandals.
☞ Men: Light slacks or dress pants with button-down shirts. No tie, no blazer. Vests encouraged.
☞ Linens strongly encouraged across the board.
Fly into Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV). Most major airlines offer connections through Istanbul.
We recommend booking flights at least 3 months in advance for the best rates.
Some options worth looking at are:
☞ JFK - BJV on Turkish Airlines (~ $ 1,000 round trip for Sep 10 - 17)
☞ IAD - BJV on Turkish Airlines (~ $ 1,100 round trip for Sep 10-17)
☞ LAX - BJV on Turkish Airlines (~ $ 1,200 round trip for Sep 10-17)
You may also find some flights that are in the same price range on other airlines, that travel through Frankfurt, Athens, and more. These may not show up on flights.google.com, and may have direct-to-Bodrum flights, which means you wouldn't necessarily have to transfer at Istanbul Airport.
Most hotels like Flamm provide a round trip service to the hotel.
Alternatively, there is a Havaş shuttle bus, which can take you to the main bus terminal (called Otogar). From there you can take a local bus or taxi to your destination.
Once you have your travel dates sorted, please let us know. We would like to also arrange for group pick ups to make everything easier for everyone, especially if folks are arriving within a similar time frame.
There are quite a few different modes of transport available in the area.
☞ Local bus (called dolmuş, pronounced "dol-moosh" with a short "moo"). These have designated stops and are very cheap to get around on. Great cultural experience if you're seeking immersion in day to day interactions.
☞ Taxis. They're everywhere, and there are many numbers you can call to summon one, at practically any time of day or night. Be sure to negotiate a price _before_ you get in.
☞ Taxi boats. These are great for getting around in the most scenic way possible. A little pricier, and a little choppier if the wind is up, but definitely a good option for avoiding the dust and traffic on the peninsula!
Renting a car is super easy in Bodrum. If you have an American driver's license, you can rent and operate a vehicle in Turkey for up to 180 days. International Driver Permit is optional. You can learn more on the state.gov website under the Travel and Transportation tab.
Please keep in mind that roads are much narrower than the US, and it will feel like you're driving in NYC or LA with less traffic regulations (please stick to traffic regulations). If you see a BMW or Mercedes, there is a 99.9% chance they will whiz by you at unreasonable speeds. This is "normal," we don't make the rules.
American citizens are not required to purchase a Visa for stays under 90 days. Please make sure your passport is good for at least another 6 months beyond your dates of travel!
We encourage you to regularly check for updated guidance at the state.gov website to stay up to date.
Bodrum enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters. By mid-September, the weather will be in a breezy range of 65F - 90F (18C - 32C). Climate change is real, and things are increasingly unpredictable, but we're hoping for the regular peachy 80-85 F beach weather during the day.
Some things you should definitely bring:
☞ Swimsuit/swimming trunks/speedo (bring 2, trust us)
☞ Breezy summer clothing (linen shirts are the best)
☞ Beach shoes / flip flops / sandals
☞ Walking shoes
☞ Hoodie for chillier evenings
☞ Sunscreen, hats, towel, book
☞ European travel plug adapter
☞ Your scuba diving license
☞ Your license to party
